Meteor Shower This Weekend, If Weather Permits

Look towards the constellaton Orion when you
are trying to view the meteors.
One of the years better meteor showers will occur this weekend across the night sky.  The Orionid Meteor Shower, which gets its name from the constellation Orion and where it will look like its coming from, will peak Saturday and Sunday morning with as many as 60 meteors an hour possible.  The average per hour is expected to be around 25.  However, there is some good news and some bad news. The good news is that the moon will not be a factor when trying to view the meteors as it will be in its crescent shape and will set early.  The bad news is that clouds may be prevent our area from seeing the night sky because of a stubborn low that will take its good old time moving out of the area.  There is a chance that skies may clear enough late Saturday night that would present a few hours of viewing. Friday night could also present a chance to view early on as well but that one is a stretch.  Either way, keep your sites set on CrawfordWeather.com and the night sky as the dates get closer.
